The Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program at Sanchez Elementary is for 4th and 5th grade students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. At Sanchez Elementary, GATE students receive differentiated instruction in their respective classrooms. Students may have different homework that is appropriate for their ability level. GATE students have also received Independent Study packets. If a student has met a particular standard in their grade level, they may choose to pursue an independent study project while the rest of the class learns the standard mastered by the GATE student. All Sanchez 3rd grade students with permission slips will be tested during March 2010 for placement in the gifted program for the '10/'11 school year.
