Principal's Message
Happy New Year! It is 2010 and we have great learning in store for your children. Students in grades 2-5 will be working on state standards during whole group instruction and will be working on specific skills during small group instruction time. They have all taken two benchmark assessments to see where they are in reaching state standards. All of them have set goals based on what they have mastered and what they need to work on. Ask them about where they are and what they have to do to reach proficiency on their assessments. For more information, talk to their teacher to see how you can help them reach their goals. They will be taking another assessment in February which will be an indicator of how they will do on their state test. We want all our students to show proficiency on their state test. Knowing where they are, setting goals and working strategically to meet those goals is what we are doing to help them be successful.
Students in grades K-1 will be assessed using a Reading assessment and benchmark tests to monitor their progress. They are also setting goals to move them academically and to move toward the expected growth for their grade level. Talk to them about what they are doing in school and keep in touch with their teachers to see how you can help them at home. Thank you for all your help...remember, as a team, we can help them reach excellence!
Sincerely,
Irene Mora
